Open Letter Collective

Printing + Publishing Studio

community education supporting creative expression in the visual and literary arts

OUR MISSION

We are an Idaho non-profit organization focused on providing quality education in printmaking, book arts, and independent publishing. Our organization seeks to educate the public about media literacy and the benefits of independent print media in a digital world. To accomplish this, we provide affordable and accessible education with access to printing, letterpress, and book-making equipment for individuals and organizations.

“I don’t own this knowledge, it is simply my turn to carry it.- anonymous

This is a well known sentiment in the letterpress community. Independent publishers and printmakers are idealistic, often embracing collaboration and sharing essential tools and resources. At Open Letter Collective we extend this sense of solidarity to include those who don’t typically have access to printmaking. Our studio welcomes students, writers, activists, organizations (and anyone who has a desire to learn!) into the printshop, enabling them to create unique and important messages.

We offer workshops In printmaking, letterpress, and book arts. Check out our current Workshop Schedule to sign up for a class!

We are working towards securing a permanent physical space for all of our studio equipment and resources so that members can access these tools on a regular basis. Until then, find us at many unique cooperative locations across the Treasure Valley.

We offer interactive printing demonstrations for events. This is a great way for participants to celebrate and rally around an impactful message. Contact us to plan a live printing demonstration for your event.

Collaborations

We love to partner with artists, writers, and organizations to meet the  unique needs of our community. Please reach out to plan a project with us!
